Oxysure Home 5L Review 2026 oxygen concentrator with live oxygen purity display

The Oxysure Home 5L stands out for its 24×7 live oxygen purity display, which keeps the current purity visible throughout operation. There is no need to press any button to check it.

This adds a useful layer of transparency, especially for users who are unsure whether an older oxygen concentrator is still producing oxygen at the expected purity. The live reading gives added confidence during regular use.

At 13.9 kg, the Oxysure Home 5L is also one of the lightest 5 LPM home oxygen concentrators in India, making it easier to move around the home.

To evaluate its real-world performance, we carried out 14+ tests covering purity, flow, outlet pressure, power consumption, continuous operation, power-cut recovery and other durability checks. The results are covered below.

Key Takeaways

  • At the maximum 5 LPM flow, our external oxygen analyser measured 95.6% oxygen purity.
  • The 24×7 live purity display shows the current oxygen concentration continuously while the machine is running.

Design, Controls and Everyday Use

24×7 Live Oxygen Purity Display

The live oxygen purity display is one of our favourite features of the Oxysure Home 5L.

The oxygen purity remains visible continuously whenever the machine is running. There is no need to press any button or use a particular button combination to check it.

This gives you added confidence throughout the machine’s long-term use, as you get instant confirmation that the concentrator is producing oxygen at the expected purity.

Single-Switch Operation

Single-switch operation sounds like a small feature, but it makes a noticeable difference during everyday use.

The main power switch is positioned directly on the front panel. Once the switch is turned on, oxygen delivery begins at the previously selected flow rate.

Some oxygen concentrators require a rear power switch to be turned on first, followed by a separate standby button on the control panel. The flow setting may also need to be checked again.

The Oxysure Home 5L keeps the process much simpler: switch it on and oxygen delivery starts instantly.

Control Panel and Floating-Ball Flowmeter

The front control panel keeps all the important information and controls in one place.

It includes:

  • Oxygen outlet
  • Live oxygen purity percentage
  • Session run time
  • Lifetime operating hours
  • Power indicator
  • Normal oxygen indicator
  • Red alarm indicator
  • Floating-ball flowmeter
  • Power switch
  • Safety fuse
  • Turn-off timer controls
  • Alarm mute button

The session run-time display shows how long the concentrator has been running during the current session, while the lifetime hour meter records the machine's overall operating hours. These readings were also useful during our extended continuous-use testing.

The floating-ball flowmeter provides oxygen flow adjustment from 0.5 to 5 LPM and allows fine adjustment in 0.1 LPM increments. The selected flow can be checked immediately from the position of the floating ball.

At a time when many oxygen concentrators are moving towards digital flow controls, Oxysure has retained the floating-ball flowmeter. It is widely considered a gold-standard method for setting oxygen flow and is still preferred by many healthcare professionals for its accuracy, direct visual confirmation and ease of adjustment.

Safety Fuse and Oxygen Purity Indicators

A resettable overload-protection circuit breaker is positioned on the front panel. If the protection circuit trips because of excessive electrical load, the button can be pressed to reset the circuit and resume operation.

The machine also has three LED indicators above the display: Power, Normal and Alarm.

The green Normal indicator remains active when oxygen concentration is 82% or higher. If the oxygen concentration falls below 82%, the green Normal indicator switches off and the red Alarm indicator turns on.

The Oxysure Home 5L includes nine alarm codes from E1 to E9, covering pressure, compressor, voltage, oxygen purity and flow-related issues. The table below explains what each alarm code means.

In our view, the displayed alarm codes are much easier to troubleshoot than relying only on beep patterns and indicator lights. On many concentrators, users have to interpret different combinations of single beeps, repeated beeps and LEDs, which can be confusing. Here, the code shown on the display gives a much clearer indication of what needs attention.

Alarm Code Alarm Description
E1 Low pressure alarm
E2 High pressure alarm
E3 Compressor unloaded alarm
E4 Compressor overloaded alarm
E5 Excessive voltage alarm
E6 Low voltage alarm
E7 Low oxygen purity alarm, purity below 82%
E8 Low flow alarm
E9 High flow alarm

Remove the Transit Zip Ties Before First Use

The compressor is secured using zip ties during transportation.

These transit zip ties need to be cut and removed before regular operation. They are used to keep the compressor secured while the machine is being transported.

Oxysure Home 5L compressor transit zip ties to remove before first use

Cannula Holder Strap

The machine includes a cannula holder strap that provides a convenient place to secure the nasal cannula when it is not being used. This helps keep the tubing organised and prevents it from falling on the floor or becoming tangled around the machine.

Oxysure Home 5L nasal cannula holder strap

Humidifier Setup

The humidifier setup is simple and standard, similar to most home oxygen concentrators. The Oxysure Home 5L comes with a humidifier bottle and connection tube, so everything required for the setup is included with the machine.

The connection tube links the oxygen outlet to the humidifier bottle, after which the nasal cannula can be connected to the bottle outlet.

Turn-Off Timer

The control panel includes an automatic turn-off timer from 15 to 240 minutes. Pressing the “+” button increases the timer through 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240 minutes, while the “−” button moves through the same settings in reverse.

This is useful when oxygen therapy is required for a fixed duration, as the concentrator can switch off automatically once the selected time is completed.

Built-In Nebuliser

The Oxysure Home 5L has a built-in nebuliser port, allowing nebulisation without requiring a separate nebuliser compressor.

Our only complaint is the placement of the port. It is positioned towards the lower rear side of the machine, making it less convenient to access than a front or higher side-mounted port.

For users who rarely require nebulisation, this is a relatively minor issue, but the placement could have been better.

How We Tested the Oxysure Home 5L

We operated the Oxysure Home 5L for 230 hours continuously and checked whether oxygen purity remained consistent during prolonged operation.

We also tested oxygen output across the machine's 0.5–5 LPM flow range, measured outlet pressure, checked actual power consumption using a Wipro smart plug and tested whether the concentrator remembered its flow setting after a power cut.

Our Oxysure Home 5L Performance Tests

230-Hour Continuous Oxygen Purity Test

Purity consistency was one of the main areas we wanted to test.

The Oxysure Home 5L completed 230 hours of continuous operation while maintaining consistent oxygen purity.

At the maximum 5 LPM flow, our external oxygen analyser measured:

95.6% oxygen purity

At the same time, the machine's live oxygen purity display showed 95%, while the floating ball was positioned at 5 LPM.

The machine display shows a rounded oxygen-purity percentage, whereas our external analyser provided the more precise 95.6% reading.

Most importantly, we did not see a noticeable deterioration in oxygen purity during the prolonged continuous-use test.

The specified oxygen concentration range of the Oxysure Home 5L is 93% ±3% across the 0.5–5 LPM flow range.

Oxygen Purity and Flow Test From 0.5 to 5 LPM

We did oxygen purity test from 0.5–5 LPM continuous-flow range.

This is important because increasing the oxygen flow places a greater demand on the concentrator. A machine that performs well at 1 LPM should also maintain the required oxygen concentration when operated at its maximum 5 LPM setting.

The Oxysure Home 5L maintained high medical-grade oxygen purity throughout the tested flow range, including 95.6% at the maximum flow of 5 LPM.

The flow-test images below show the floating-ball position together with the oxygen-analyser reading at different flow settings.

Outlet Pressure Test: 53 kPa

The Oxysure Home 5L has an outlet-pressure range of 40–80 kPa, or approximately 5.8–11.6 PSI.

In our test, the machine produced:

53 kPa or approximately 7.68 PSI

This sits comfortably within its operating range and provides a good balance between a gentle oxygen delivery and sufficient throw through the tubing for consistent performance.

The outlet pressure also remained stable during our extended testing.

Power Consumption: 273.7 W at 5 LPM

The manufacturer claims a peak power consumption of 320 W. In our Wipro smart plug test, the Oxysure Home 5L consumed 273.7 W at 5 LPM, which is quite efficient for a 5 LPM concentrator and should have a relatively limited impact on your electricity bill during regular use.

Power-Cut Performance and Flow Memory

We also checked what happens when the electricity supply is interrupted and then restored.

Before cutting the power, we set the Oxysure Home 5L to 3.8 LPM.

After electricity was restored, the concentrator restarted at the exact same flow of 3.8 LPM.

This flow-memory function is useful in areas where short power interruptions are common because the user does not need to manually set the oxygen flow again every time electricity returns.

Filtration, Sieve Beds and Safety

20-Layer Filtration System

The Oxysure Home 5L uses a 20-layer filtration system consisting of:

  • Washable air filter
  • Washable dust filter
  • 18-layer HEPA filtration

The filtration system is designed to reduce dust and airborne particles entering the concentrator. This is particularly useful for operating conditions in India and the UAE, where dust can become an important consideration for machines that run for long hours.

Lithium Sieve Beds

The Oxysure Home 5L uses 100% pure lithium molecular sieve material.

Lithium molecular sieve can achieve effective nitrogen adsorption using less adsorbent material, helping reduce the overall weight of the concentrator while maintaining oxygen-separation performance.

You can also read this PubMed-published review on molecular sieves in oxygen concentrators, which explains why lithium-type zeolite molecular sieves are preferred in premium, compact oxygen concentrators. The study notes that lithium-type sieves are more effective than sodium-type sieves, allowing less sieve material to be used and helping make the concentrator more compact and lighter - one of the primary reasons why Oxysure Home 5L weighs only 13.9 Kg.

Fire-Resisting Cannula Valve

Another important safety feature is the fire-resisting cannula valve, also referred to as a fire-resisting damper.

Fire Safety Valve

How it works: Oxygen itself does not burn, but it can make a fire spread faster and burn much more intensely. The fire-safe valve contains a heat-sensitive fuse. If flame reaches the valve, the fuse melts and automatically shuts off the oxygen supply, helping prevent the fire from spreading further.

Oxysure Home 5L is the first oxygen concentrator in India to come with this fire-safety valve.

You can watch the fire-safety valve demonstration to see how the valve helps stop flame propagation through the oxygen tubing.

Weight and Portability

The Oxysure Home 5L weighs 13.9 kg, making it one of the lighter 5 LPM home oxygen concentrators in this category.

Its weight is comparable to global 5 LPM concentrators such as the Caire VisionAire 5 and Nidek Nuvo Lite, which weigh around 13.6 kg.

The built-in carrying handle, wheels and relatively low weight make it convenient to move the machine from one room to another.

Wheel locks would be a useful addition, especially when the machine is placed on slanted flooring.

Warranty and Service Support

The Oxysure Home 5L comes with a warranty of 3 years (up to 12,000 hours) valid across India.

This is particularly good for an oxygen concentrator in this price segment.

Even if the machine is operated for 10 hours every day for three full years, it would accumulate around 10,950 operating hours. This means the 12,000-hour limit is sufficient even for relatively heavy daily usage throughout the three-year period.

Home Service Across More Than 40 Locations

Oxysure has one of the strongest oxygen concentrator service networks in India, with more than 40 service locations and home service available across many areas.

For remote locations where home service is not possible, free pick-up and drop support is provided by the brand. Based on feedback from our customers, service requests have generally had a fast turnaround time.

Another useful support feature is that several customers have reported receiving a backup oxygen concentrator in certain cases while their machine was under service or repair, helping reduce downtime for users who depend on oxygen therapy.
